Glossary : Low Voltage Lighting

Lighting is a very important aspect in any display and, in recent years, low voltage lighitng systems have risen to prominence as the solution of choice. The advatages of low voltage lighting systems include size, safety and quality of light. Fixtures are typically smaller than mains voltage counterparts (though now mains versions of popular low voltage designs have been produced) allowing more flexible placement.

The voltages used are far safer with little risk of electric shock even if in direct contact with power cables. This is expecially useful in situations where the public might come into close contact with fixtures.

Finally, due to the lower voltages used, the quality of light produced is crisper and more intense than a mains lamp of the same wattage.
